Luneside Group Investments
The Luneside Group make a further strategic investment in its Luneside Engineering Operations. A new C.N.C. Lathe with 'C' axis drive and driven tooling is currently being installed. This machine is of the latest configuration, with the spindle motor being an integral part of the head stock. This eliminates belt drives and gives better chip to chip time by allowing the turret to index to position and move in the other axis at the same time. This configuration also results in a more rigid drive system to enable higher feeds and speeds to be used. This machine compliments a smaller machine with the same configuration. Both machines allow turning and milling in the machine to increase productivity and reduce set up times. This investment brings the total new investment in the last twelve months to £ 250,000 at Luneside. In addition £ 150,000 has been invested in the Groups Cambridge Manufacturing Technology operation in the same period. The Group expects to invest circa £400,000 in the current year bring total investment in the last 3 years to well in excess of £1,000,000.
Strategic Development
The Group Companies are both now providing customers in Aerospace and Scientific Instruments with Project Management and full Assembly and Test capabilities. Both operations have recently installed Assembly and Test facilities. This includes Electrical and Electronic integration with the Mechanical Assemblies to provide a fully functional Electro / Mechanical Assembly to customers requirements. The Group is now planning to install a high volume manufacturing unit at its Lancaster site. The Company has a large 45,000 sq. ft. facility with room to double its current output. It expects that within the next two years to be producing £4,000,000 of sales in Lancaster and a similar volume through the Cambridge facility.
